The other boot finally dropped. Twitters just slashed half of the staff.
Elon Musk tweeted on the layoffs “unfortunately there’s no choice when the company is losing $4M/day”. He added that everyone affected was offered three months severance pay which was 50% more than legally required. He also announced that Twitter soon will include a feature allowing users to add long-form text to their tweets.
Following the layoff, Jack Dorsey, founder of Twitter, offered his apology by saying that he upsized the company too quickly.
While Twitter is shedding weight, Biden fired at Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, saying “now what are we worried about: Elon Musk goes out and buys an outfit that sends — that spews lies all across the world”. However, it seems that Musk has actually done something right, as it’s worth the president’s salt.
